For those of you who know us, you know that Yorkshire Life isn’t just any publication. It is the definitive guide to everything magnificent about ‘God’s Own County’—the premier voice on luxury lifestyle, local history, stunning scenery, and hidden gems.
To have our Victorian villa highlighted among the very best Yorkshire has to offer is an honor we didn’t see coming. Seeing Felicity Macnamara’s beautiful article, “Dales, Dreams & Days by the Sea,” alongside stunning images of the bay was truly a full-circle moment for us.
A Legacy Continued
When we set out to restore Fernleigh, it was never just about creating a holiday let. As the article beautifully details, Robin Hood’s Bay has been a sanctuary for our family for over a century, since Ed’s great-grandfather first brought the family here in 1919.

Restoring this grand old home was about honoring that legacy. We wanted to create a space where your family could build the same kind of memories—days spent hunting for fossils on the beach, evenings spent in local pubs, and mornings looking out at that “to die for” view of the bay.

We are particularly delighted that the feature highlighted our dedication to craftsmanship and our deep-rooted ‘Yorkshire Pride.’
We worked tirelessly to respect the building’s heritage—retaining original stained glass and fireplaces—while ensuring it offered the modern, stylish comfort our guests expect. We partnered almost exclusively with local Yorkshire trades, soft furnishing specialists, and soft blanket makers to give visitors a genuine, warm feel for the county’s famous hospitality.
